ANTI-LIGATURE SHOP AND DUDLEY INDUSTRIES

Originally established in 1942 Dudley Industries, based in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire are metal fabricators specialising in stainless steel.

A study of suicide cases within mental health facilities identified that 77% of the 448 deaths were as a result of strangulation. Patients are more at risk in areas of privacy in which they spend time unsupervised for example toilets and bathrooms. With this information In 2019 Carl Need Director and Owner of Anti-ligature shop teamed up with Dudley Industries to design and manufacture an Anti-ligature washroom range.

ALS are delighted with the success of supplying our customers with the, Dudley industries range of reduced ligature products to create a safer environment. The range includes a soap dispenser, toilet tissue dispenser and a paper towel dispenser. The dispensers have matching or co-ordinating backplates. Check out the products below.

The dispensers were designed with a backplate that fixes to the wall and the backplate houses the dispenser reducing ligature points wherever possible. Protecting the most vulnerable in mental health facilities, prison, detention centres and care homes. It was thought to give the option of the single colour backplate and dispenser or contrasting backplate and dispenser. The blue colour was chosen as it would be bright enough for people with impaired vision to locate and blue is said to provide a sense of security.
